This one-day conference will focus on the challenges involved in building and sustaining successful cross-sectoral partnerships between academic, business and public agencies to support regional innovation. The conference will draw on lessons learned from the EU-Drivers for a Regional Innovation Platform project.
The conference format will be highly interactive, with expert international keynote speakers, panelists and senior representatives from the European Commission.
With practical interactive sessions it will provide participants the opportunity to try out "on the ground" the lessons learnt from the EU-Drivers project; each participant will receive a copy of the EU-Drivers toolkit with good practices to support effective transformational regional innovation.
In our pre-conference reception, networking breakfast and poster sessions, the conference will provide ample opportunities for direct exchange between regional, university and business leaders as well as access to EU policy-makers.

Ungarn geht andere Wege

Greeting from Beijing Normal University. I hope this email finds you well.
With a great success in 2011, the Institute of International and Comparative Education, Beijing Normal University continues to offer the International MA program in Educational Leadership and Policy (Comparative Education) for international students, in collaboration with the Institute of International Education, Stockholm University. Applications for 2012 are now available!
This program will enroll 25 international students for 2012 with generous financial support from the Chinese Government. Around the top 40% of the international students will be awarded a full Chinese Government Scholarship based on candidates' academic excellence covering their tuition fees and living expenses for two years. Other students will also have the opportunity to get Beijing Government Scholarships which will cover tuition for at least 1 year. So that would be a very good chance for students who are interested in Chinese culture or who can't afford to pursue further education. We will continue with great efforts to create more opportunities for students from all over the world to know China and we will also strive to provide high quality education and excellent service for international students.
This program is a 2-year teaching and research program, modeled on the core-course system of the Institute of International Education, Stockholm University, which has been proved to be effective for over 30 years. It allows students to fully develop their academic capacities and provides students with qualifications, skills and competencies to apply for Ph.D. programs in comparative education at Beijing Normal University and elsewhere.

Call for Papers: The Social Contract of Higher Education - 2012 EAIR Forum
EAIR 34th Annual Forum 2012, Stavanger, Norway, 5-8 September 2012
The Forum will be hosted by the University of Stavanger.
Next year, the main forum topic will be ‘The social contract of higher education’. With a bit of luck, this will keep you on your toes with excitement and lead to fruitful debates. Although formal can be fun, informal can be even more fun. In next year’s Forum, the Norwegian informal tone combined with the characteristic regional «dugnad» spirit and an extensive social programme will make the EAIR 2012 Forum the perfect place for networking and for building and deepening relationships. (Professor Dr Jan Erik Karlsen, Forum Chair)
The EAIR Forum 2012 Stavanger Programme Committee invites you to submit your proposal for the EAIR 34th Annual Forum, which will take place in Stavanger, Norway at the University of Stavanger from Wednesday 5 September to Saturday 8 September 2012.
Researchers, academics, policy makers, administrators and educators are invited to submit their proposals for a presentation or a poster during the Forum. Each accepted proposal will contribute to one of the seven specific programme tracks which are outlined below.
Overview Tracks:
- Education as a vehicle of social justice
- Policy development for knowledge enhancement
- Higher education in a competitive world
- Promoting higher education in decades of open access
- Student experience: Attractive learning and teaching
- Management and governance: Friend or foe?
- Institutional research: Measuring effectiveness in higher education
